Infant Baptism (under 7)
The Baptisms in English are held on the FIRST SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH AT 2:00 P.M., with some exceptions during the year. There will be NO baptisms during Lent (month of March). Please contact the parish office to verify the exact date for each month.
The Baptism Preparation Class is offered the Thursday, prior to the Baptism at 7:00 p.m., with some exceptions during the year. The class takes place in the Enrichment Room, which is located on the second floor of the brick schoolbuilding. YOU MUST REGISTER BEFORE YOU ATTEND THE CLASS.
If you do not live in the boundaries of St. Joachim parish, you will need a permission letter from your church letting you baptize at our parish.
If the Godparent(s) live out of the area, they can attend the Preparation Class at a parish where they reside and provide verification to the parish office prior to the baptism.
Baptisms are for newborns through six (6) years of age. It is strongly urged that parents present their children for baptism a few weeks after birth.
PARENTS: It is NOT required that parents be married in the Catholic Church to baptize their children. This is done in hopes that the parents resolve their marriage status.
SPONSORS: According to Canon Law, only one (1) Godparent is required. The Godparent must be at least 16 years of age, baptized Catholic who has made his / her First Communion and Confirmation. If there are two (2) Godparents, they have to be a man and a woman and at least one of them has to be Catholic. If the chosen Godparents are a couple, they must be married by the Catholic Church.
To Register please contact the parish office.
